The annual Kansas-Nebraska missions offering is named after Viola Webb. She directed Kansas-Nebraska Woman’s Missionary Union for 25 years, retiring in 1982. At age 94, Mrs. Webb’s health prevents her from traveling. However, she kept going as long as she could. The photo above shows Mrs. Webb during a 1990 speaking tour in the Nebraska Sandhills, where she spoke in a former one-room schoolhouse. At the time, Dorsey Community Church, northeast of O’Neill, met in the school. The church has since constructed a new building and continues to be very active in ministry.
As fall approaches, many Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptist churches are starting to think about the Viola Webb Missions Offering.
The offering benefits mission causes in Nebraska and Kansas, along with your local association. Receipts are split 50/50 between KNCSB and the association where the money was given. The offering is named for Viola Webb, who directed Kansas-Nebraska Woman’s Missionary Union for 25 years.
Mrs. Webb, now 94, lives in a Topeka, Kan., nursing home. She is still vitally interested in Kansas-Nebraska missions.
