Vacation Bible School 2008 will take on a Hawaiian atmosphere. The theme of “Outrigger Island: Living God’s Unshakeable Truth” is the main VBS curriculum from LifeWay Christian Resources. It emphasizes that God’s truth never changes. VBS enthusiasts from all over Nebraska and Kansas attended the annual KNCSB Vacation Bible School Jumpstart Clinic. It was held Saturday, March 8, at First Southern Baptist Church, Salina, Kan.
Vacation Bible School is a church’s most evangelistic event, participants in a KNCSB training event were reminded.
About 200 people gathered Saturday, March 8, for the annual VBS Jumpstart Clinic at First Southern Baptist Church, Salina, Kan.
The event focused on the 2008 VBS curriculum lines from LifeWay Christian Resources. “Outrigger Island: Living God’s Unshakeable Truth” is the main curriculum. It based on Psalm 86:11 with the motto of “Know the Truth! Speak the Truth! Live the Truth!”
“Outrigger Island” may be used in a church or mission Vacation Bible School aimed at preschool children through adults. It also is available in Spanish for preschool and children.
Each day is known as a “Wave,” and the themes are:
“Outrigger Island” also includes a separate curriculum for pre-teens known as “VBX.” It focuses on the unique needs of this age group.
Veteran VBS teacher Lois Mercer led a conference on VBX during the Jumpstart Clinic.
“This is such a critical age,” she said of pre-teens because they are deciding what role God will play in their lives.
LifeWay’s second VBS curriculum for 2008 is “Club VBS: Cactus Canyon.” It is based on John 3:16 with a theme of “Saddle Up! Tell Others!”
Club VBS may be used in a church or mission Vacation Bible School. It also is easily adaptable for mission trips and short-term Bible study events.
