Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists (KNCSB)

Helping Churches Make Disciples of All People

Clinic gives ‘jump start’ for Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is one of a church’s most evangelistic events, participants in the KNCSB VBS Jumpstart Clinic were reminded.

More than 200 people attended the event held Saturday, March 6, at First Southern Baptist Church, Salina, Kan.

The clinic focused on the two VBS curriculum lines from LifeWay Christian Resources.

“Saddle Ridge Ranch: Drivin’ Home Answers” is the main curriculum. It will help children learn how to find answers to their questions, such as “What is God’s plan for me?” and “How can I be like Jesus?”

The theme verse is “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 (HCSB) “Need Answers? Ask God!” is the motto.

Daily themes (for children) are:

Day 1: Who Am I?
Bible Story: God Creates Adam and Eve (Genesis 2:4-24)

Day 2: Does God Care About Me?
Bible Story: Joseph Recalls God’s Provision (Genesis 45:1-14)

Day 3: What Is God’s Plan for Me?
Bible Story: Jesus Visits Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10)

Day 4: How Can I Be Like Jesus?
Bible Story: Jesus, Our Example (Luke 5:16; Luke 4:14-16; Mark 6:30-46)

Day 5: What Do I Do Now?
Bible Study: Go to it! Do it! (Philippians 4:4-9)

Lifeway’s second VBS curriculum line for 2010 is “Club VBS: Route 254—What’s Your Destination?” It will take children on a sightseeing trip along “Route 254” as they learn that a relationship with Jesus is their ultimate destination.

Club VBS offers a flexible format, including a two-hour schedule for five days, or one-hour schedule for 10 days. It is ideal for use in smaller churches or in mission settings.

The theme verse is “Make Your ways known to me, LORD; teach me Your paths.” Psalm 25:4 (HCSB) “Know! Follow! Choose God’s Way!” is the motto.

Daily themes (for children) are:

Route 1: Destination Worship (Washington, D.C.)
Bible Story: Journey to the King (Matthew 2:1-15)

Route 2: Destination Thankfulness (Chicago)
Bible Story: Where Were the Nine? (Luke 17:11-18)

Route 3: Destination Salvation (Lebanon, Kan.)
Bible Story: The Road to Salvation (Matthew 26:36-42; 27:33-50; 28:1-10)

Route 4: Destination Belief (Yellowstone National Park)
Bible Story: Believe It! (John 20:19-31)

Route 5: Destination Obedience (Knott’s Berry Farm)
Bible Story: Choices on the Open Road (Acts 8:26-38)
