Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists (KNCSB)

Helping Churches Make Disciples of All People

Diverse volunteers serve in tornado-stricken town

KNCSB volunteers serving in tornado-devastated Greensburg, Kan., are seeing some fruits of their labors. At this home, Canadian volunteers led the way in February in pouring the sidewalks and driveway. In addition, the KNCSB February team made much progress on the interior finishing here. Volunteers ranging from bikers to Catholic nuns were on hand in Greensburg, Kan., during the last week of March for the finale of the spring-break building blitz. KNCSB volunteers were part of this diverse group helping to rebuild the tornado-devastated town.

Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptists are asked to pray for a volunteer who was injured when he fell from a ladder. Jim Phillips, who is from the Shreveport, La., area, broke his left heel in the fall. Phillips came to the KNCSB team through the connection with the Canadian Convention of Southern Baptists. The Louisiana Baptist Builders partner with Canada, and several Louisiana men joined the February effort in Greensburg.

Before coming back to Greensburg in April, KNCSB volunteers will be serving April 7-11 at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan. They will be helping with construction on the new multipurpose building. Plans are calling for finishing the front part of the building in time for the summer camping season. If you can help at Webster, or at Greensburg, contact Elijah “Touch” Touchton at 620.230.9962 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

After serving at Webster, the KNCSB team will be going back to Greensburg to serve April 13-19. Other dates that KNCSB teams will be serving in Greensburg are:

  • May 11-17
  • June 8-14
