KNCSB annual meeting set for Oct. 13-14

Westside Family Church, Lenexa, Kan., will play host to the KNCSB annual meeting on Oct. 13-14.

The 2008 KNCSB annual meeting is quickly approaching. Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptists are urged to begin finalizing plans now to attend the meeting.

It will be held Oct. 13-14 at Westside Family Church, 8500 Woodsonia Dr., Lenexa, Kan. The meeting theme is “Balanced Kingdom Leadership: Embracing Treasures Old and New.”

“Please make it a priority to take part in this year’s annual meeting,” said Steve Holdaway, KNCSB president. He is lead pastor at LifeSpring Church in Bellevue, Neb., which played host to the 2007 KNCSB meeting.

Holdaway lists four reasons to attend the 2008 meeting:

  • “You need the time away to refuel.”

  • “You need to be inspired.”

  • “You need to be challenged. Your local church ministry will benefit when you make the effort to be informed and stretched.”

  • “We need your involvement and input. The wonder of cooperation is that it makes us better and advances the kingdom more than we could ever do alone.”

Activities will start with the KNCSB Pastors’ Conference. It will be held Monday, Oct. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the church. Gregory Frizzell will be the featured speaker. He is president and founder of Gregory Frizzell Prayer and Renewal Ministries. Frizzell is director of prayer and spiritual awakening for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma.

Kansas-Nebraska Woman’s Missionary Union will hold its annual missions celebration from 4:15-6:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the church. Ray and Penny Young, missionaries to Portugal, will be the featured speakers. A meal is included, so pre-registration is required by Sept. 29. KNCSB annual meeting session 1
Monday, Oct. 13, 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.

This session will include:

  • Presentation of the 2009 KNCSB budget by R. Rex “Peck” Lindsay, KNCSB executive director

  • The KNCSB president’s message by Steve Holdaway. He will address the meeting theme. “I will be sharing a message that I believe God wants our pastors to hear.”

  • A presentation of the LifeWay Worship Project and the new Baptist Hymnal by David Manner. He is the KNCSB director of church worship and administration.

KNCSB annual meeting session 2
Tuesday, Oct. 14, 8:55 to 11:30 a.m.

This session will include election of officers and the annual sermon by Ken Beckner, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church, Augusta, Kan. Seminary luncheons will follow.

KNCSB annual meeting session 3
Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1:30 to 4:40 p.m.

This session will include the Webster Conference Center report, missions recognitions and the Midwestern Seminary report.

KNCSB annual meeting session 4
Tuesday, Oct. 14, 7 to 9 p.m.

The session will feature the keynote address by Emil Turner, executive director of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. The Kansas-Nebraska Singing Men will perform.
