KNCSB teams share hope in New Orleans

Six KNCSB teams have served in New Orleans so far in 2006. Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, and the scope of destruction is still beyond comprehension. Here is a summary of their accomplishments:

  • 116 volunteers have worked approximately 5,000 hours

  • Rewired 10 houses (saved homeowners $100,000 to $150,000, based on New Orleans prices)

  • Sheetrocked three houses

  • Finished sheetrocking two houses

  • Insulated two houses

  • Global Maritime Ministries Center—Helped install sheetrock and put up siding on outside of building; finished sheetrock and made cabinets.

  • Baptist Association of Greater New Orleans—put in 100 feet of sidewalk

  • Furnished electrical materials for two houses

  • Furnished drywall materials for two houses

  • Gentilly Baptist Church—painted and put in electrical on first floor of the education building. (The church is now housing volunteers, including those from KNCSB and Arkansas.)

  • Outreach: Passed out 900 flyers; 500 gift bags to homeowners; 200 care bears; and 18 backpacks with school supplies. The gospel has been shared many times. So far, one person has been saved.

  • Feb. 3-10, 2007

  • March 17-24, 2007

  • April 14-21, 2007

  • May 5-12, 2007
