Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists (KNCSB)

Helping Churches Make Disciples of All People

Lottie Moon offering, Cooperative Program ‘are my total support’

A Kabylie believer reads his Bible within the relative safety of a home. Over the past century many Kabyles have been killed for accepting Jesus, and persecution continues today, but the Kabylie church continues to grow. Southern Baptists have played a key role in the translation and distribution of the Kabyle New Testament. Many Southern Baptist churches in Nebraska and Kansas collect in December the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. This year’s national offering goal is $175 million.

A missionary with Kansas-Nebraska ties tells how the offering helps her:

“The Cooperative Program and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering are my total support. Monies from these offerings bought the car I drive, rent the house I live in, pay for any ministry needs that I have. It is because of these offerings that I can print papers for my English classes, invite people to my house to play games and hear Bible stories, study English, drive people to get ice cream as a reward for doing well in their classes.

“My life is supported by these offerings. They pay for:

  • Scripture tapes that I can distribute to people
  •
  • The bus ticket that takes me to the bush to hand out the tapes
  •
  • Gas and the guest house that I stay in when I do research about the universities in the countries around the African country where I serve

“These offerings pay my salary so I can pay the electric and water bills and buy groceries. Without these offerings, I could not be here.”
