Pray for Super Summer

Super Summer 2007 is now in full swing at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan. It runs through Aug. 10 with the final week devoted to ethnic youth. “Games People Play” is this year’s camp theme.

Week 1 saw a capacity crowd of 465 campers. Decisions included:

  • Salvation: 16

  • Vocational Service: 6

  • Rededication: 15

  • Candidates for baptism: 2

Andy Addis of Hutchinson, Kan., is camp pastor for Week 2 with 180 Degrees serving as the featured musicians.

Greg Savage, prayer coordinator for the KNCSB Youth Evangelism (Y.E.S.) staff, lists the following prayer requests:

Pray daily for:

  • Youth Evangelism Staff

  • Collegiate Staff

Prayer requests by day are:
    Monday
  • Safety in travel

  • God’s Spirit to begin to soften hearts

  • Terry McIlvain, camp director

  • Beth Payne, McIlvain’s assistant, who is in charge of registration

  • Y.E.S. Staff (Daily)

    Tuesday
  • The Evangelistic Message - pray for salvations

  • Conviction of sin and repentance

  • Understanding of the gospel

  • Courage to respond to the message

  • The camp pastor and the boldness to proclaim God’s truth

  • Safety all week for the low- and high ropes courses

  • Safety in daily B.LA.S.T. games (large-group recreation)

  • Bible Study leaders

    Wednesday
  • Strength for every student, sponsor and staff member

  • Sensitivity to the working of God’s Spirit

  • Spiritual renewal in the hearts of every Christian

    Thursday
  • Safety in B.L.A.S.T. Tournament

  • Pray specifically for the short devotion after the B.L.A.S.T. tournament

  • Everyone is tired - pray again for strength

  • Pray for the “last” worship service

    Friday
  • For every student will take home what God has begun in their hearts

  • For genuinely changed lives

  • That every church will “catch” the passion in each camper

  • Safety on their return trip

  • For everyone will be wise in how they live and make the most of every opportunity

“Thank you for your prayers during Week 1. The week was extremely successful,” Savage says. “The Collegiate Staff had a wonderful first week and worked very well together. Please continue to pray for the Collegiate Staff. Let us continue to lift in them in prayer asking God to grant them a servant heart and a humble spirit. Ask God to give them strength and encouragement. Ask God to build them into a cohesive team that only has the Kingdom of God and His glory in focus.”
