Put missions on your summer calendar
Although snow is blanketing most of Nebraska and Kansas, now is the time to start thinking about summer mission projects. (The photo above shows Sharon Springs in far western Kansas, which recently received a snowfall of more than 30 inches.)
Mission Challenge ‘07 will give ideas on how to become involved with the KNCSB partnerships in Arkansas, Mexico and Canada. It will be held April 13-14 at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan. Here are a few other ideas on how to get involved:
In addition, there are urgent needs for student summer missionaries in Canada. An e-mail from the Canadian Convention of Southern Baptists describes just two such needs:
- “In St. John’s, six students are needed to lead the `first wave’ of spiritual offensive on the shores of Newfoundland. We have no Southern Baptist work and little evangelical witness of any kind. Students will learn leadership, organizational and evangelism skills while coordinating the work of multiple mission teams and helping to follow-up on contacts made through the ministry of these teams.
- “In Yellowknife, North West Territories, three students are needed. The city has people from all over the world, but there is a lack of a Christian witness. Tlicho Christian Fellowship (the only Canadian Southern Baptist Church in the NWT) is located about 60 miles northwest of Yellowknife. TCF seeks to equip and send student missionaries into Yellowknife to `scout,’ build relationships, share Christ and hopefully start Bible studies that will lead to a future church plant.”
