The KNCSB Disaster Relief Team is continuing to serve in the aftermath of the devastating tornado on Friday night, May 4, in Greensburg, Kan.
The KNCSB team is based at the grade school in Haviland, Kan., about 12 miles east of Greensburg, working in cooperation with the American Red Cross. Team members are preparing meals for Red Cross emergency response vehicles (ERVs) to deliver in the stricken area.
In addition, the KNCSB team is serving meals at the school to tornado evacuees and relief workers. As of Sunday, May 13, the team had served 18,538 meals.
At this point, Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptist can best help Greensburg and other stricken communities through prayer and giving money.

Following is an important news release from the Kansas Adjutant General’s office:
“Truckloads of donations from well-intentioned individuals and groups around Kansas and the U.S. are being turned away due to lack of storage space in Greensburg and nearby towns. Semi trucks are being sent to the Kansas Food Bank’s central distribution facility at 1919 E. Douglas in Wichita. The amount of donations being brought in poses a challenge to workers in Greensburg who have no place to store the items for later distribution.
“Only cash donations are requested and those wishing to donate may refer to a list of possible organizations to consider on the Kansas Adjutant General’s Web site Clothing and other items are not being requested.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of support from around the nation, but ask everyone to donate cash to the various organizations who support such disasters as this one,” said Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, Kansas Adjutant General, and Director of Kansas Emergency Management.
“Contractors wishing to provide services to Kansas or volunteers wishing to donate their time or other resources must call the Kansas 211 number or if outside the state, call 888.413.4327.
“Food donations may be sent to the Kansas Food Bank Anyone with questions should call 316.265.3663.”
