Volunteers to play key role in WCC project

Construction is progressing on the new multipurpose building at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan. The contractors will soon finish their work, and volunteers are needed to take over from there.

Volunteers are needed to put on the roof and construct a wall around the building’s perimeter using 6-inch metal studs. After that, the following tasks will need to be completed:

  • Sheeting the outside walls with 5/8-inch plywood.

  • Building the trusses for the three-story building that will connect the new building to the Chapel.

  • Installing metal roof trusses on the three-story portion of the building.

  • Building interior walls using metal studs.

  • Electrical wiring of the building.

  • Insulating the exterior walls.

  • Sheet rocking the interior walls with 5/8-inch fire-rated sheetrock.

In addition to the new building projects, there are still two existing buildings that need new shingles installed before the spring rainy season begins. The roofing materials are on site.

If you can assist in any way for any amount of time, please call the toll free number, 1-877-WCC RESV, to reserve your time and job at Webster. The conference center will house and feed you while you are on the grounds to assist in the work.
