Wornall Road Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo., recently affiliated with KNCSB. Mark Clifton, former KNCSB staff member, is leading this church as it reaches out to a diverse community. A Haitian congregation shares the Wornall Road facilities. Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptists are asked to pray for the congregation members. Their families in Haiti were affected by the recent earthquake.
“Buckets of Hope” for Haiti in KNCSB needs facilities for storing and processing the buckets, along with donated pallets and shrink wrap, and trucks and drivers to deliver them to the national facility in Florida.
These needs are urgent, says John Lucas, who is coordinating “Buckets of Hope” for KNCSB. “Your donation of resources or contribution of knowledge is needed to make this ministry a success.”
Currently, KNCSB associational offices are determining the collection points for the five-gallon buckets of food that will be donated by churches across Kansas and Nebraska.
Once the buckets of food are collected through associations, there will need to be an identified location (possibly more than one) where the buckets can be delivered for storage and handling. Once they are gathered at a central location, they will need special handling.
There will need to be a warehouse provided that can store the potential thousands of buckets. The warehouse will need to have a docking capacity to accommodate trucks that will need to be loaded with pallets stacked with buckets.
There is also a need for sufficient room in the warehouse for storing and shrink wrapping the buckets once they are on pallets. Donated shrink wrap and standard-sized pallets (40 inches x 48 inches) would also fulfill a great need. All of the buckets will need to be collected and palletized by March 15, 2010.
In addition to these critical needs, trucks (capable of transporting pallets) will be needed to transport the palletized buckets from the warehouse to Florida by March 31. Drivers will also be a critical need for the success of this ministry.
Please keep these critical needs in your prayers. If you know of someone you think might be any help with these needs, please contact us immediately. Your knowledge of a resource can prove just as valuable as an actual donation of resources itself. Each bucket must be exactly alike. “Please follow the detailed instructions carefully. This will ensure that every bucket quickly passes through customs and into the hands of the Haitian people,” the NAMB Web site says.
