The 6 dramas on each video, presented at Willow Creek Community Church, were especially written to reach the unchurched, raise questions, and make the audience laugh—or cry. They act as a “set-up” to the message given by the pastor, opening the audience to hear God’s Word on issues like evangelism, addiction, and marital conflict.

She joins him and in the course of the conversation we discover they have died and are now on the outskirts of heaven waiting for their name to be called. Roy is counting on his duffel bag “trophies,” his life’s accomplishments, as his ticket to get in. Sue’s counting on the fact that the price has been pain “already.” In the end, Sue’s name is called, and Roy is left clutching his trophies.

- Dramas don’t always provide answers; sometimes they simply prompt hard questions. This Drama begins the “whys” and “what-ifs” behind the crumbling relationship of Richard and Zach, a divorced father and his college-age son. Zach is an angry, trouble teen who shows up at Dad’s place when Mom throws him out of the house. Tension builds a the father and son fall into deepening ruts of judgment, miscommunication, unmet needs, rejection, and double standards. Tempers flare when Richard berates Zach for having sex, just as the father’s own live-in girl friend enters the room. The drama ends with both men isolated in regret and pain, and we’re left wondering why they have turned on one another and not to the Lord and mender of relationships.

- A tired husband returns home at the end of a work day to his equally tired wife. In the few moments they talk, their exhaustion and unmet needs create a tense (but comical) exchange. The scene freezes and a counselor appears and explains that he’d like to hear what happened from each of their perspectives. The scene is replayed twice, once from each point of view and it’s hard to believe they’re describing the same situation!

- A heated conversation takes place when Chris shares with Nan, a coworker, that she and Ted, her boyfriend of four years, are pregnant. An abortion is her only choice. This is followed by Nan’s confession of an abortion years ago and all she had to endure as a result. The skit ends with Nan telling Chris she will always be there no matter what she decides.

- Dan, a nervous, talkative passenger engages Bill, a seasoned business traveler on a plan trip. The conversation turns to spiritual matters when Bill casually observes he saw Dan pray before his meal. Bill expresses his skepticism about God’s involvement in the everyday affairs of life – at the very moment the captain announces an engine failure! Bill suddenly becomes panic stricken, and all his poised confidence gives way to desperate (and comical) pleas for God to help. When the captain announces the crises has passed and they will be landing soon, Bill goes back to his “got-it-all-together” façade, as if nothing has happened.

At first, everything is “Hunkey Dorey.” He keeps his boss, Mr. Hunkey, and his wife, Dorey, quite happy (represented by him spinning imaginary plates on wooden poles each character holds). He is further challenged when Peachy, his daughter, and Keen, a new account require his attention. Add to those obligations Oakey, a health club membership, Dokey, a counselor, and his aging parents, Nitty and Gritty. Hank now has a Hunkey Dorey Peachy Keen Oakey Dokey Nitty Gritty life. Keeping all those plates spinning has him on the edge of a breakdown.
