KNCSB Annual Meeting

Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptists are urged to make plans now to attend the 2017 KNCSB annual meeting. It will be held Oct. 9-10 at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan.

Important note: The schedule has changed for this year’s meeting. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, and end at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Messenger pre-registration

It is important for your church to begin now to consider electing messengers and alternates.

Churches may now pre-register messengers on line at http://kncsbevents.org/AM2017.html

Sept. 7 is the pre-registration deadline.

Lodging

There will not be a convention headquarters hotel. A limited number of rooms will be available at Webster Conference Center. Reservations may be made starting Aug. 1. There will be a link on the WCC website

Child care

Child care will be offered for babies through fifth graders. Oct. 1 is the deadline to register for child care. Register on line

CrossOver outreach events

CrossOver is the outreach event that precedes the KNCSB annual meeting. Events will be held all day Saturday, Oct. 7, followed by prayerwalking Sunday evening, Oct. 8. Find more information

Here is a list of KNCSB annual meeting session times and related meetings:

Monday, Oct. 9
1 to 4:30 p.m.—KNCSB Annual Meeting Session 1

The first part of this session will be devoted to business. Then breakout sessions on various topics will be offered.

Tentative breakout session topics are:

  • The Prodigal Church or the Imperfect Leader
  •  
  • Multiplying Leaders in Your Church
  •  
  • Praying with Purpose
  •      
  • Bivocational conference
  •  
  • Disaster relief
  •  
  • Women’s session—This session will be held from 2:15-4:30 p.m. More information will be posted on the KNCSB Ministry Wives Facebook page.

 

Kansas-Nebraska WMU Missions Celebration—4:45-6:15 p.m.

“By All Means Let’s Go Fishing” is the meeting theme. The cost is $5 per person and includes dinner. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 21. To register, send names, contact information and payment to Women’s Leadership Department, 5410 SW 7th St., Topeka, KS 66606.


6:30 to 8:30 p.m.—KNCSB Annual meeting Session 2
This session will feature the keynote address by Jared C. Wilson. He is director of content strategy for Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, managing editor of “For The Church,” and director of The Pastoral Training Center at Liberty Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo.


Retirement reception
Immediately after the Monday evening session a retirement reception will be held for long-time KNCSB staff members Terry McIlvain and Derek Taylor.

McIlvain is KNCSB youth ministry coordinator and Webster Conference Center administrator. He will retire on Dec. 31 after 35 years of service.

Taylor is KNCSB printing-and-equipment manager and serves on The Baptist Digest team. He will retire in early 2018 after 39 years with KNCSB.

Tuesday, Oct. 10
9 a.m. to noon—KNCSB Annual Meeting Session 3

This session will feature the annual sermon by Jermaine Pennington, pastor of Victory Community of Faith, Wichita, Kan., and the president’s address by Joe Stiles. He is pastor of First Southern Baptist Church, Lawrence, Kan.

Dates for future KNCSB annual meetings are:
2018—Oct. 8-9 at First Southern Baptist Church, Pratt, Kan.
2019—Oct. 14-15 at Parkview Baptist Church, Lexington, Neb.
