Youth from Kansas-Nebraska gathered at Webster Conference Center for the annual Youth Worship Arts Camp on March 9-10, 2007. There were 186 participants, a significant increase over last year. Twenty-six churches were represented.
Tracks included choir, dance/interpretive movement, drama, drama directing, drama script writing, praise band, signing, tech (a new track for 2007), and worship team. “The primary objective of this event is to provide students with knowledge and resources that can be utilized in their own church,” says David Manner, Director of KNCSB’s Music and Worship Department. “With the leadership we had in place, I think we accomplished that goal.”
“It was great to see kids who were complete strangers join together to create a worship sound,” was one director’s comment. “This event gave them an opportunity to sing with an ensemble and learn music to take back to their youth group.” Many of the students in his track were from churches that had a small choir or no organized choir ministry at all.
The highlight of the camp was the final service where participants from each track presented something they worked on throughout the weekend in a worship setting.
We hope you will make plans to join us at next year’s camp on March 7-8, 2008. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
