Bowies mark 30 years with IMB

Southern Baptist missionaries Ken and Linda Bowie are celebrating 30 years of service with the International Mission Board. The Bowies, who serve in northern Chile, were recognized during the recent general meeting of missionaries in South America.

The Bowies are Kansas natives. They were members of First Baptist Church, Burden, Kan., when God called them to the mission field. First, they served as IMB missionary journeymen in Peru. Later, they returned to Peru as career missionaries and served there for nearly 25 years. In 2003, they transferred to northern Chile, where they serve on the Andean River Valleys Team.

Working through First Baptist Church, Ovalle, they help to coordinate the work of church-planting teams as they reach out to 10 communities in the valley.

They often host volunteer mission teams; the next team will be conducting a basketball clinic June 14-21 in a Catholic school in Ovalle.

The Bowies seek prayer for:

  • All of the places God where is working in Chile
  •
  • Continued strength and good health for ministry, especially for the “hard-to-get-to” places.
  •
  • More Chilean believers to have a heart for missions and join them in ministering to people in rural areas.
