Campers on Mission tackle winter projects

Several Kansas-Nebraska Campers on Mission couples are serving the Lord in warmer climates this winter.

One group is at Texas Baptist Encampment at Palacios, Texas, on the Gulf Coast. One couple is serving at Bibleville, which is a ministry of Rio Grande Bible Institute in south Texas. Another couple is serving as chaplains at an RV park in Yuma, Ariz.

Long-time COM member Velda Houser died Dec. 19, 2015, in Salina, Kan. Several COM members attended her memorial service Thursday, Jan. 28, at United Methodist Church of the Cross, Salina.

Velda and her late husband, Richard, sold their home and belongings 20 years ago and became full-time RV-ers. They did volunteer work throughout the United States. The Housers served in warmer climates in the winters. During the rest of the year they based themselves at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan.

“This is home,” Richard said of WCC.

Richard Houser taught himself to be an electrician by studying the National Electrical Code. Velda was constantly at his side handing him tools.

Upcoming Campers on Mission events include:
