‘Heart of the Child’ event to offer valuable training

A unique training opportunity for preschool and children’s workers in churches will be held April 4-5 in the Tulsa, Okla., area.

The Heart of the Child Convention is a regional training event. KNCSB is among the sponsoring conventions.

More than 150 conferences will cover all aspects of preschool and children’s ministry. Keynote speakers and leaders will include:

  • Thom Rainer, president of LifeWay Christian Resources.

  • Jerry Vogel, LifeWay’s manager of childhood publishing.

  • Daryl Eldridge, president of Rockbridge Seminary, Springfield, Mo. He served as dean of educational ministries at Southwestern Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, for more than 19 years.

  • Tommy Sanders, a professor at Dallas Baptist Seminary who formerly served on the LifeWay staff.

  • Donna Peavey, a professor at New Orleans Seminary.

  • Willa Ruth Garlow, a LifeWay field consultant and preschool leader at Capitol Hill Baptist Church, Oklahoma City.

  • Jason Catron, a recording artist from Nashville.

  • Kay DeKalb Smith, a Christian humorist from Nashville.

Activities will begin with registration at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, April 4, and end with a celebration and commissioning service at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, April 5.
