We find in John 4:46-53 the story where a noble man came to Jesus asking Jesus to come and heal his sick son. The noble man traveled a long distance to plead with Jesus to come and heal his sick son.

Jesus replied to the noble man: “Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.” Then Jesus called upon the man to believe in the healing just by faith. Jesus said; “Go thy way; thy son liveth.”

The noble man believed the words of Jesus and traveled back home. As he neared his home, his servants met him and told him that his son was alive. The noble man replied that the very hour that Jesus told him that his son liveth and he believed, his son began to mend. The noble man believed in the word of Jesus and healing took place.

It took a step of faith in the word of Jesus. When God speaks, that word has power. When we believe that word and act upon it, the power goes to work. But it calls for the step of faith.

Many times we are asked to go on mission with God and we begin the process of seeking His will. But we often look for a sign or a feeling to verify our going on a mission trip. I have heard some say, “I just haven’t felt the call to go on a mission trip or this trip.”

Yet we find that the word of God calls us to be a witness for Him. Acts 1:8 says, “Ye shall be witnesses unto me … unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Romans 10:14-15 says, “How then shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher (witness, proclaimer). And how shall they preach, except they be sent?”

It is a step of faith, not feelings or a sign. The word of God is very plain about us going and being a witness for Jesus. We are not to look for a sign or a certain feeling, but just be obedient to the word of God by faith. We should look at the open door and let God close it if He so chooses.

Take the step of faith in His word. Go and see God work the work of salvation in someone’s life. Let God use your personal testimony and the written word in Piura, Peru, July 19-29, 2012.
