Nebraska church closes doors with celebration service

By Doug Lee
Ogallala Community Church, Ogallala, Neb., closed its doors Sunday night, Jan. 28, with a celebration service with 23 people present.

Why we closed is that four families are moving. The two families remaining felt it was time to close and start a new chapter in their lives.

We worshipped, remembered what God has done though Ogallala Community Church over the years and shared how God ministered in our lives. We had children to adults sharing, many with tears.

Ogallala Community Church sponsored Solid Rock Baptist Fellowship, Alliance, Neb.; Rock of Salvation Baptist Church, Lexington, Neb.; and Two Rivers Fellowship in North Platte, which is sponsoring the new Truckers Church at the Flying J in North Platte.

I celebrate:

  • Seeing spiritual growth in lives
  •
  • Salvations
  •
  • Mission trips we took
  •
  • Ministry projects
  •
  • Mission teams that came
  •
  • Times with each other. When many churches are dealing with prejudices we were a multi-ethnic church in a predominantly Anglo community.

I have mixed feelings—sad in seeing Ogallala Community Church close and joy in the Kingdom impact this congregation had.
