After leaving KNCSB, McDaniel became executive vice president of the Southern Baptist Annuity Board (now Guidestone Financial Resources). He served with the Annuity Board for 10 years before taking early retirement.

He and his wife, Gladys, then moved back to Kansas where they joined the staff of the Kansas-Nebraska Southern Baptist Foundation as estate-planning consultants.

After that the McDaniels moved back to Texas where he was active in the Weatherford and Parker County community for many years. He was active in the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, United Way, American Cancer Society, Weatherford Civic Music Association, Lions Club, Optimist Club, and various other community activities.
