VBS enthusiasts gather for training

The bright sunshine outside mirrored the enthusiasm inside during the KNCSB Vacation Bible School Jumpstart Clinic. More than 200 people attended the training event held Saturday, March 3, at Webster Conference Center, Salina, Kan.

LifeWay Christian Resources compiles statistics from VBS reports sent by Southern Baptist churches. Among the findings are:

  • Vacation Bible School is the most important outreach event for many churches.
  •
  • About 25 percent of baptisms in the SBC are the result of Vacation Bible School.
  •
  • More people have come to know Jesus as Savior through VBS than any other single outreach event.

The KNCSB clinic focused on “Amazing Wonders Aviation: Encountering God’s Awesome Power. This is the main 2012 VBS curriculum published by LifeWay.

VBS participants will take off each day from the “Amazing Wonders Aviation” airstrip and visit some of God’s marvelous creations:

  • Victoria Falls
  •
  • Northern Lights
  •
  • Parícutin Volcano in Mexico
  •
  • Great Barrier Reef
  •
  • Grand Canyon
  •
  • The Matterhorn

The theme is taken from Psalm 147:5: “Our Lord is great, vast in power; His understanding is infinite” (HCSB). “Awesome God! Amazing Power!” is the motto.

The rotations will be:

  • Bible Study at Victoria Falls in Africa.
  •
  • Missions under the Northern Lights
  •
