VBS is important outreach event

Vacation Bible School can be one of a church’s most important outreach events.

“There are more salvation decisions from VBS than any other event that [Southern Baptists] do,” said Ken Beckner, KNCSB team leader for Bible Teaching. About 25 percent of baptisms reported in the Southern Baptist Convention came from VBS.

The KNCSB Vacation Bible School Jumpstart Clinic on Saturday, April 1, helped equip VBS workers to reach children. Training in English and Spanish focused on “Galactic Starveyors: Discovering the God of the Universe,” the 2017 VBS theme from LifeWay Christian Resources. Read more

The theme Scripture is Colossians 1:15-16: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.”

“Searching the Visible, Discovering the Invisible” is the VBS motto.
