WCC receives new challenge grant

Webster Conference Center became debt free in February. Praise God for the faithfulness of the individuals and churches who have contributed to WCC.

New matching challenge grant
WCC recently received a new 2013 Matching Challenge Grant of $50,000 from a Kansas family to begin the Dining Hall expansion project to increase seating to 500.

All other facilities at WCC can currently hold up to 500 people, but the current Dining Hall seating capacity is limited to around 275. This expansion project, when completed, will relieve the need to feed people in shifts.

The current kitchen can prepare food for 500. But this expansion project will include some much-needed improvements to the dish return area and include other amenities to the Dining Hall.

So far, $5,680 has been given toward this grant. Those who wish to contribute should make their checks payable to “Webster Conference Center” and send those tax-deductible gifts to 2013 WCC Matching Challenge Grant, 5410 SW 7th St., Topeka, KS 66606-2398.

WCC receives grant
WCC recently received a $1,000 grant from the Greater Salina Community Foundation for the new Disc Golf Course. Thanks to WCC supporters who voted for this project in a recent popularity contest held by the Greater Salina Community Foundation. WCC finished first among nine projects competing for the prize.

“Match Madness” begins
Give a gift to Webster Conference Center and we’ll make it greater with the Greater Salina Community Foundation’s Match Madness! This one-day event is designed to generate new gifts to our endowed fund for long-term support, as well as current gifts to help us meet immediate needs.

If you live outside of the Salina area:
You can mail your donation to Webster Conference Center and the WCC staff will hand-deliver your donation on March 12. Make sure your gift is sent in time to arrive before March 12. The mailing address is Webster Conference Center, 2601 N. Ohio St., Salina, KS 67401

If you live in the Salina area:
On March 12 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. donors stop by Mokas Downtown (109 N. Santa Fe) to “fill out their bracket.” Donations from Salina residents must be made in person at Match Madness.

Checks should be payable to the “Greater Salina Community Foundation” and write “Webster Conference Center” on the memo line.

Your gift will go to our endowed fund at the Community Foundation. The Community Foundation will provide a matching gift in the form of an outright check back to us. Every new endowed donation (up to a maximum of $1,000 per person) will receive a match! Donations will be matched proportionally up to 50 percent. Ten percent of each donation will go to the Fund for Greater Salina, a community grant fund offering annual grants to local charitable projects.

Up to $50,000 in matching funds are available. Additional $100 grants will be made every hour throughout the day. The two organizations that raise the most money for their endowments will receive a bonus grant of $500 for 1st place and $200 for 2nd place. The two organizations that have the most individual donors will receive a bonus grant of $500 for 1st place and $200 for 2nd place.
